Before we go on to discussing the subject at hand, namely search engine traffic and its optimizations, we must be sure that we understand that search engine optimization (SEO) is the most essential element of online or Internet marketing.
But what is Internet marketing? It is the process of promoting, marketing and selling products and/or services through websites, web pages, blogs, and so on. If used effectively, Internet marketing reaches much wider and more diverse audiences than conventional marketing could ever hope to. This now leads us to the questions, “What is effective Internet marketing?”
Effective Internet marketing depends on a number of elements but the most essential of them is the ability to attract traffic of visitors and not just any casual visitors, but visitors who are interested and motivated to purchase the products and/or the services that are being promoted on any given site. Since websites or web pages are inspected and rated by search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing; they must meet a set of criteria — rules and expectations, if you will.
The closer a website comes to meeting every aspect of all the criteria set by search engines, primarily by Google who is the largest of them all, the more it will be favored which will than translate into better ratings. A well rated or highly rated website is then listed on the first page of the search results for a given keyword or keyword phrase and so it becomes more conveniently accessible to the searching public. It goes without saying that the more visible a site is on the search engine result pages, the more visitors it will attract. And since marketing is, actually a numbers game, if a website has more visitors it will, of course, also have more visitors who convert to paying customers. It is that simple.
A third question which might come up is, “What is meant by search engine traffic.” In this context, traffic means the flow of visitors to a website. These are visitors who have search for a key term on Google, Yahoo, Bing or any other search engine, found the results and have ultimately landed on a selected web page. If what they see is interesting, if it grabs their attention, if it meets their needs or desires; they will then make the purchase.
Thus, search engine traffic optimization is key to successful online and Internet marketing and it will make the difference between succeeding and failing which also means making money or not.
